The new Footscray Hospital will help meet the changing and growing health needs of Melbourne’s west, where the population is predicted to grow by 60 percent in the next 20 years.
The project comprises primarily of:
The main emergency hospital requires a more rigorous analysis and design consideration to the new AS3600 – 2018 concrete standard to cater for Post Disaster Recovery. Both hospital buildings will feature V columns that extend between the ground floor and level two.
PSV provided the independent structural design review and certification. We sought input from the builder and their specialist subcontractors to make sure all detailing suited building requirements and was incorporated into the final design.
Additionally, we had very lean timeframes for construction deadlines. We carried out the peer review and structural certification for all aspects of the structural design, which included site retention, stability and gravity cases, all floor elements, feature precast facades, and structural steelwork.
